Joshua Tree City Guide with Danielle Shaw of Palo Verde Ranch
There’s something so mystifying about Joshua Tree. From its vast, Mars-like landscape to its vacant, lost-city vibe, there’s definitely some magic in this desert. It’s no surprise why it’s become a weekend haven for so many LA residents, us included, and a community for many creatives.
We recently made the trip to shoot our latest fall lookbook at the gorgeous Palo Verde Ranch, owned and impeccably designed by Danielle Shaw. A revived 1956 ranch style home named for the massive Palo Verde tree that sits on the property, this expansive pink hued (yes, PINK!) house features a cowboy pool, perfectly designed interiors, and amazing views of the magical desert sunsets. With only a short drive to all the best spots in town, Danielle was nice enough to fill us in on her favorite go-to’s JT has to offer.
“I just love this place. It’s designed so well with a great 70’s feel. Make sure to take a picture with Big Josh; our oldest daughter always knows we’re super close to Palo Verde Ranch once we see him on the ride in. Go inside to get rad custom Joshua Tree souvenirs anyone would love and enjoy some coffee, drinks, or snacks out on their patio.

Wonder Valley Oil Shop - Joshua Tree
Don't forget to pop into this shop while you’re at The Station. I would buy the olive oil just for the packaging alone, however the actual olive oil is spectacular. I use it daily on my salad for lunch and refuse to use anything else now. They recently came out with a skincare line that my husband and I love. It’s simple yet effective approach is so refreshing compared to so many others out there. And don't even get me started on Al's Big Deal jumpsuits! FINALLY someone has come out with a vintage inspired workwear jumpsuit that doesn't need to be altered or broken in. Go in and try one on and I promise you won't wanna take it off. Thank you Alison!

The Integratron - Landers
“An unforgettable sound experience for those who seek deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and introspection." Book a 60 minute sound bath for a one-of-a-kind magical experience like none other.

Wine and Rock Shop - Yucca Valley
Typically I stop here on my way in, and my way out of the desert. The best (and maybe the only) place in the desert to get natural, organic, and biodynamic wines. But the shop also has crystals along with an array of fun boutique products. All ages can find something they want to treat themselves to.

PAPPY AND HARRIET’S - Pioneertown
This place is a MUST! This legendary restaurant and music venue has been around since 1982 but has a ton of history before then that you can read about on their website. If you are a meat eater, get the mesquite bbq steak - you won't be disappointed. And be sure to check their calendar for shows. Some pretty amazing well-known artists have played there in the past.
